eBooks

The library has ebooks available for your course reading, source information for research papers or personal reading.  The ebook collection can be found by searching the catalog.
Read Online
The ebooks are available from two providers: EBSCOhost or Proquest EBookLibrary (EBL). All of the ebooks can be read online without being downloaded. You can take notes, and print or copy portions of the ebook while in the online mode.

Download
The ebooks can be downloaded to your computer or mobile device. Downloaded ebooks are protected with Digital Rights Management (DRM) so you will need to create an Adobe ID and authorize your computer or mobile device with Adobe. To download an ebook to Windows computer or a MAC, install Adobe Digital Editions. To download an ebook to an iOS or Android mobile device download the EBSCO ebook app, or for an EBL ebook download the Bluefire Reader app.


Install Adobe Digital Editions to your computer

For an EBSCO ebook, download the EBSCO app to a mobile device.

For an EBL ebook, download the BlueFire reader app to a mobile device.

Downloading and using the EBSCO ebook app

Reading options: Click on the ebook from the catalog.
Select PDF full text and read online in the EBSCO full text viewer .
Select Download this ebook, and the ebook file will be downloaded to Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer/laptop. You will be prompted to create/ sign in to your EBSCOhost account.
To access from your mobile device, download to EBSCO ebook app (avail. for Apple or Android devices).
Use Send to Kindle to transfer an ebook to a Kindle device.
Print pages: Up to 60 pages can be saved and printed as a PDF depending on the publisher.
Open the eBook in the eBook Full Text viewer, then go to the first page of the section of pages you would like to print and click the Save icon on the right-hand side of the screen. You may email or save the pdf of the document pages, and then print them. To print more than 60 pages, exit and re-enter the book. The print counter will reset for another 60 pages.
Checkout duration: To download the ebook you need to create an EBSCO account and checkout the item. Currently the checkout is set to 7 days. The ebook will be removed from the reading app after 7 days. You may re-checkout the item.

ProQuest ebook Help Guides

Reading options: Click on the ebook from the catalog, you will be prompted to enter your USML userID and Password.
Select Read Online (Available) and read in the EBL online reader.
Select Download, set the checkout period, and choose either ePUB (flowable text) or PDF. The ebook file will be downloaded to Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer/laptop.
Access from your mobile device and download to Bluefire Reader app (avail. for Apple or Android devices).
Print pages: Printing restricted to 20% of each ebook. Remaining print balances can be viewed for each ebook on the details tab in the Online Reader.
Notes/Annotation: Can create bookmarks and notes on any page in the EBL Online Reader. To create a bookmark, click the Notes tab to the left of the ebook page, click "Create New Note." To add notes to a bookmarked page, enter a title and type in your notes or copy and paste text into the text box. Bookmarks/notes are private and save automatically.  To access Bookmarks for a specific title during current or future sessions, open the ebook in the EBL Online Reader and go to the Notes tab.
Checkout duration: To download the ebook you need to checkout the material, from 1 to 7 days. The ebook will be removed from the reading app after the checkout expiration. You may re-checkout the item.
