The USML Writing Center serves students in all degree programs at all skill levels. Whether you are seeking help with researching a topic, need assistance with basic writing skills, or assistance with formatting an academic paper to the proper style guidelines, USML offers access to print and online resources and a writing staff that is ready to assist you.
Writing Center Resources
Check the Writing Center Course Reserves in the library's online catalog or visit the Circulation Desk to see the print, audio, and online resources that are available. These resources are suitable for both ESL and English-speaking students.
The Center for Speech and Writing staff, including ESL specialists, are available to work with individuals and groups. Contact Writng Center Director, Tom Dougherty (tdougherty@usml.edu) to make an appointment or find out more about our Writing Center Workshops.

Here is a list of manuals that provide specific guidelines for writing degree papers. USML's DMin Handbook, which contains instructions for writing the DMin project paper, is available upon request through the Academic Affairs Office.
The Purdue Owl is an excellent resource to assist you in creating a thesis statement, organizing a research paper, understanding plagiarism, and assembling bibliographic citations. Additionally, Duke Divinity School provides general and theological writing resources and guides.

Evernote and OneNote are free resources to help you organize class notes, clip notes from websites, and outline your research paper sources. Everything you add to your notes will automatically synchronize across all of your devices, allowing you to access your notes from numerous devices. Your notes are searchable and allow for collaborative sharing.
Zotero is a free citation management system that will keep track of your sources and provide assistance with formatting bibliographies. Citation records are created by simply dragging a PDF document into Zotero. Zotero offers up to 300MB of free online storage. Review the Quick Start Guide to get started.
Mendeley offers a free version of its reference management and social collaboration tool. Mendeley has an integrated PDF viewer for annotation, highlighting, and adding notes directly on PDF documents. Your references and documents can be organized in folders. EndNote Basic offers up to 2GB of web storage for file attachments and increased storage for up to 50,000 references. EndNote offers sophisticated, flexible tools for organizing your citations. Mango Languages online learning system provides conversational and grammar instruction to 68 languages, including New Testament Greek, Biblical Hebrew, and Religious and Scholarly Latin. Users are able to set up an account to track progress through course lessons. Mango Languages also offers a free mobile app, which can be downloaded through the Google Play store and the Apple app store.
